I'm not a big fan of surprises.  I'd rather have something planned any day.

That being said, getting a present I didn't expect is a fun thing. :)

QotD: Set Your DVR

What TV show(s) will you be watching this season? Why?

Hello, my name is Kristine and I'm a tv-junkie.  ;)  Although I am much better than I was back in the day, because I've learned not to anticipate watching a whole series just because the premise sounds good.  I'll watch the first ep and then decide.

I wrote a big post about this on my main blog not long ago (hence all these links at my fingertips), but I've already weeded some out.

• Monday: Prison Break.  I'd watch The Class and How I met your mother if they weren't on at the same time.
• Tuesday: Dancing with the Stars. I don't bother to watch the results show, just the tuesday night version.
• Wednesday: Bones and Lost.  I'd like to check out The Nine, a new show too.
• Thursday: The Office, Grey's Antomy, and ER.  GA and ER are nice-to-watch, but not things I absolutely feel I have to watch.
• Friday: Numb3rs, Stargate, Stargate Atlantis, Dr. Who, Battlestar Galactica.  Obviously, not all of these are playing at the same time, some are mid-season things.  I'm not as excited about Dr. Who as I was last season, I really liked the old actor.  Stargates are over until March already.
• Sunday: E watches the cartoons on Sunday night on Fox now that I don't have Charmed competing with them.  I halfway watch from my desk.

Others:  I watched the beginning of Jericho, and I'm not absolutely sure I'll keep watching it because it's on at the same time as Bones.  The premise seems great for a 4-hour TV movie, more than a series.  I tried Studio 60, but it really didn't catch me completely.  E's watching reruns of Futurama, and I've got What not to Wear which I generally halfway watch while doing other things.  Robot Chicken is a nice diversion, and short, too.  Good Eats has a season pass, but I'm not sure if we are on new episodes or not right now.  I think Mythbusters is not new episodes right now.  I've pretty much decided not to watch Las Vegas or Nip/Tuck but if they happen to tape, I might see.

So see, I can't help it, I do love being entertained.  It's something E and I enjoy doing together, sitting on the couch and watching.  Sometimes, it means sitting and catching up on a weekend And I was waiting for pizza dough to rise, so it was a good time to write my QOTD answer for a topic so near-and-dear to my heart ;)

Here's an old one, it was up on Snap! from 2002.  I was taking the picture for a thousandwords weekly challenge. My ring is happily back on my ring finger again, having been resized.

I love how the shadows turned out on the wall behind the picture, and when I saw the topic of the VH yesterday, I knew I had to use this photo. :)

cooking tonight

When we were at dinner last night, we brainstormed some meals we hadn't had for a while.  I came up with Spinach Casserole, because that's always good, but it's been a very long time since we had it.  And when we walked through the store, they had a huge pile of acorn squash and it reminded me that it's almost fall and I wanted to get good at cooking squash.

This evening, I went looking for a recipe that was most similar to how I remember having acorn squash in the past: on cooks.com.  And with E's leftover french bread, we tried out something similar to Parmesan Garlic Bread (we stuck with the herbs in the cupboard that we had rather than some of the other stuff in the recipe, but used this concept).

So wow, we had big wonderful meal (and I finished the rest of the wedding cake, too).  My tummy is fully and happy!
