OMG, Best News Ever!  Alerted by As Told by Jen. :)  I am so wowed right now, this was certainly terrific news between the trick-or-treaters (we've had only 3 groups so far).

Short of a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reunion movie, this is just about the best news you could ask for: Eliza Dushku and Joss Whedon are reteaming for a new series! (Told ya it would be worth tearing yourself away from the candy corn to drop by The Ausiello Report.)

Edited to add: Whedonesque of course is covering this tonight too now!  Joss has been in the news more this week because of the Angel box set coming out on DVD, and then tomorrow's Office episode he directed, so this is SO his week!!!!  Woot!

Guess what i am? That's right, a 'curly girly' ;) complete with a curly updo and curly ribbon woven in. done mostly for my fav trickortreater who is a curly girl herself. But i had fun too. :)

Library blanket and squares

One of my recent knitting/crafty projects was for the Library.  I've talked a little bit over the last month or so about joining the Friends of the Library group - it's a group of people who do things to support our local library system.  One of the first projects I participated on was as a coordinator for baskets full of donated goods that were going to be auctioned off for fund raising.  I made a pair of slippers to donate before I joined, and then worked on a doll blanket, and turning everything into pretty cohesive baskets.

We took practice squares from the Knit-in and turned them into a doll blanket for one of the basket.  They were a wide variety of sizes, which added a little bit more difficulty!  But I wanted to put a border on each of them, so I just did some of them with a wider border than others.  Oh the joy of circular needles, I just picked up stitches all the way around the square, with some extras in the corners, and then went around and around and bound off loosely.  I did the same after sewing the squares to put a border on the very outside too.

All together, there were 4 baskets, and 2 of them had knitted goods in them (doll blanket and pig that one of the other ladies knitted in the "Fun at Grandma's House" basket, and my slippers and a crocheted blanket from one of the other ladies in the "Relaxation" basket).  So many people donated stuff for them that they were really a labor of love from the whole group.  And plus, they turned out really pretty, and I'm hoping they will raise a nice amount of money for the library. :)

Happy Birthday, Vox!

One year ago today, Vox officially launched!  Here's my post and moblog from that day.

In that year, so many great things have been added to make Vox even cooler, with more ways for me to love it.  And as I've had a year full of change personally, this matches well! Some of my personal highlights from the last year:

• I love that Vox has finally made it possible for me to share things with my family -  having Sarah, my Mom, and E's mom all be part of it has been such a nice treat to have this way to keep them up to date on my life.
• I am glad for being able to record the books and movies that I've been enjoying so much this year - I have such a nice way to look back at what I was doing during any given month over the year.
• I am proud for the way groups have grown, particularly the Knitting group.  It's a happy way to see how so many of my friends are growing in their knitting!
• I appreciate things like [this is good] for introducing me to new people I might not have met.  I have some great new friends, particularly people who enjoy TV shows through the new fall season, and that's been really a fun thing.
• I smile looking back at my moblog posts this year - this has been a constant for me even when my time for posting has been light, and it really gave me a chance to still easily share a little bit of myself, and have something to look back at.

So happy birthday, Vox, here's to many more years of greatness to come!
